The Legend of Zelda Link to the Past & 4 Swords for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) is an enhanced port of the 1991 Super NES classic. This version bundles the original solo adventure with an all-new multiplayer experience titled Four Swords.

Key Features & Content

  • A Link to the Past (Single Player): Link must rescue Princess Zelda and the descendants of the Seven Sages, defeat the wizard Agahnim and the demon king Ganon, and reclaim the Triforce while traveling between the Light and Dark Worlds.
  • Four Swords (Multiplayer): A cooperative-competitive mode for 2–4 players. Players control different-colored Links to solve puzzles, defeat bosses like the wind mage Vaati, and compete to collect the most Rupees.
  • Exclusive New Dungeon: Completing both A Link to the Past and Four Swords unlocks the Palace of the Four Sword in the main game, featuring remixed puzzles and a final battle against four Dark Links.
  • Riddle Quest: A new side quest involving a character named Q. Bumpkin that unlocks the "Hurricane Spin" ability.

Changes from the SNES Original

  • Technical Adjustments: The game features a slightly smaller viewing area to fit the GBA screen and a lightened color palette to improve visibility on non-backlit screens.
  • Updated Audio: Link now has voice samples (yelps and grunts) taken from the child version of Link in Ocarina of Time.
  • Localization Tweaks: The script was updated for consistency with later games, such as changing "Seven Wise Men" to "Seven Sages" and "Hylia" to "Hylians".
  • Quality of Life: Improvements include a better saving system, the ability to speed up text, and small gameplay changes like the Spin Attack cutting the grass Link is standing on.
