Released for the Game Boy Color in 2000, Wario Land 3 is a puzzle-platformer where Wario is trapped inside a magical music box. To escape, he must find five smaller music boxes hidden across a world of 25 massive levels. 

Gameplay Mechanics

The game is widely known for Wario's invincibility, meaning he cannot "die" or get a game over from standard enemy attacks. Instead, enemy attacks often trigger humorous transformations that Wario must use to solve puzzles and access new areas: 

• Flaming Wario: Set on fire to break through fire-marked blocks.
• Fat Wario: Eat food to become heavy and smash through specific platforms.
• Zombie Wario: Become slow and fall through thin floors to reach lower areas.
• Snowman Wario: Turn into a rolling snowball to break specific barriers.

• Non-Linear Progression: The game is structured like a "Metroidvania" where you must collect treasures that grant new permanent abilities (like swimming or high jumping) to unlock paths in previously visited levels.
• Day and Night Cycle: The environment changes based on the time of day, which alternates each time you exit a level. Some paths only open at night, and different enemies appear depending on the time.
• Golf Minigame: A side-scrolling golf game where Wario must knock an enemy into a hole to progress past certain roadblocks.
• Vibrant Graphics: It is often cited as one of the best-looking titles for the system, featuring fluid animations and detailed, colorful backgrounds.
